Welcome to Craftercise
The Craftercise program takes children on a sensory journey via a combination of messy play, art and craft, sensory play, science experiments, movement to music and physical activity.
The creators of Craftercise, Aleisha and Amanda are both mums, qualified and experienced primary and secondary health and physical education teachers with a passion for all things art and craft.
They have four university degrees between them, including a masters in health and physical education and PhD in children’s physical activity and sedentary behavior in family settings. Everything they do is underpinned by the latest international evidence in child development, best practice and a commitment to quality and safety. Becoming mums and sharing in the joy and excitement of their children experiencing messy art and craft, sensory play, movement to music and physical activity at home in conjunction with their professions, has inspired the development of Craftercise.
The mission of Craftercise is to immerse children in a sensory adventure through the provision of stimulating programs and resources, which aim to empower and inspire their creativity, play and learning.
The Craftercise program is designed to provide pre-school children with a stimulating learning environment through art and craft, sensory play, messy play and active movement opportunities to enhance physical, intellectual, social, emotional development.
Each session incorporates learning activities to develop physical literacy, which can be defined as moving with confidence and competence in a wide variety of activities and environments (indoors, outdoors, sand) that develop the whole person. Children who develop the competence and confidence to move are more likely to be active for life.
